Lots of people think they're charitable if they give away their old clothes and things they don't want.

-- Myrtle Reed, American poet

I don’t usually write review for websites that are unrelated to architecture and neither would I recommend websites that have nothing to do with architecture. But if the review could make a difference in saving many children from extreme poverty, then I would make an exception this time.

For those bloggers out there who wish to do a charitable cause, please head on to Comparehotel.com.my - a one stop center travel search site that help travelers to find hotel information worldwide, compare room rates and availability – to participate in the Review Me and Sponsor a Child Program.

For each sponsored review, Comparehotel.com.my will donate MYR50 to WorldVision's Child Sponsorship Program. I think this is truly a clever way of promoting one’s website while at the same time giving to charity. Well, I see nothing wrong with that; it’s the thought of doing a just cause that counts.

Meanwhile, I have bookmarked this website for my future travel search and I have also placed Comparehotel.com.my in the Products and Services Showcase directory under the “Others” section for future references.

Long gone are the days of hopping from one website to another in search of the best deal. I am sure Comparehotel.com.my will come handy for me when the time comes. Just realized that I have not gone overseas for the past 2 years. I guess, it’s about time to take a long break. Care to meet me in person or be my tour guide? Will pay for your service and time! :-P

Skyrise Greenery Awards 2008 - Urban Greenery at its best

Naomi Hotel

This scheme presents a transformation of an old hotel into a new boutique hotel. It is a street block with limited opportunity for greenery because of the site constrain; however the project has incorporated as much greenery as possible in its A&A work. >>> Read More

Newton Suites

This scheme made good use of landscape in a fairly tight site (e.g. green walls on the exterior of condo, residential block, exterior of car park and pool side). The provision of greenery in communal space (i.e. skyrise gardens) contributes to the lush environment. >>>Read More

Initiatives undertaken in the building and construction sector to counter environmental woes are by far the most effective. Studies have shown that the abatement costs of CO2 emissions in the building sector are in fact negative, i.e., sustainable design makes money for developers and owners. Yet, the industry has only begun to scratch the surface when it comes to making a real change. Building professionals have a real opportunity to make a difference. >>>Read More

"Any work of architecture which does not express serenity is a mistake"

Mexico's most distinguished 20th-century architect built a masterly home all his own

In Mexico City, Casa Luis Barragan is a must-see for fans of modern architecture and design

AMERICAN-STATESMAN ARTS WRITER

MEXICO CITY - Tucked away on a dead-end street in the modest Tacubaya neighborhood of this sprawling, bustling mega-metropolis lies an overlooked treasure of modern architecture.

The home and studio of famed Mexican architect Luis Barragán has perhaps an appropriately unpretentious exterior, nicely in step with the surrounding low-scale buildings housing small-scale shops, residences and light industries.>>> Read More
